Dr. Aliyah Snyder is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in neuropsychological assessment and psychotherapy across the lifespan. She is the founder and director of The Brain Learning Center, a program for teaching cognitive-behavioral skills to everyone. She is also currently a research fellow at the UCLA Steve Tisch BrainSPORT Program where she studies ways of improving recovery after acquired brain injury and concussion. She has authored and presented several publications on this topic in scientific journals and professional seminars nationally and internationally.
Dr. Snyder received her doctoral degree in the neuropsychology track of the clinical and health psychology program at University of Florida. While at UF, Dr. Snyder completed a predoctoral training fellowship in clinical and translational science (CTSI TL1) and founded Athlete Brain, a student-run organization dedicated to promoting concussion safety and awareness in the community. She completed a pre-doctoral internship at Emory University School of Medicine in the adult and pediatric neuropsychology track working with patients in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation settings. Her clinical post-doctoral/fellowship training in brain injury and sports neuropsychology was completed at the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences and Steve Tisch BrainSPORT Program at UCLA. There, she focused on general neuropsychological training and specialization in interdisciplinary concussion management and treatment.
Dr. Snyder has in-depth experience in the neuropsychological assessment of a wide variety of medical and psychiatric conditions including stroke, epilepsy, neurodegeneration (i.e., dementia), brain tumor, brain injury, movement disorders, learning developmental disorders (i.e., AD/HD, learning disabilities), and serious mental illness. Dr. Snyder also enjoys providing psychotherapy services under a primarily cognitive-behavioral (CBT) orientation. She also provides cognitive rehabilitation services for those recovering from injury or illness but also for individuals interested in optimizing their thinking skills. Dr. Snyder has unique experience working with professional and amateur athletes and performing artists across all stages of development, from early specialization to retirement, in order to improve mental health and performance.
